Just Rose by L.T. Marshall

Screen Shot 2019-10-20 at 17.09.02Description

The unexpected death of Rose’s beloved aunt ends up being a driving force in her uneventful life. She gives up her lonely, unfulfilled big city existence for the country home and life from cherished childhood memories.

But can it live up to them?

All she wants is to find her place in the world; the happiness and independence she has been searching for. With her little dog Muffin by her side and a much needed new friend, it does seem possible – until an encounter with the handsome local Laird of the Munro Estate sends her spiralling from young professional woman to hormonal bundle of goo.

Their chemistry is undeniable, but with him not seemingly on the market, this might not be the place for her after all.

Thrust into the world of country living, will Rose ever find true love?

In this roller coaster of emotions and a whole lot of country charm, one thing is for sure: Rose is certainly not going to be bored anymore!

Karen’s Book Buzz Review

I’m fairly sure I downloaded this book because it was free. I’ve never read any of L.T. Marshall’s books but as she is part of Pict Authors, I know her from there. For some reason I thought this was a short read and came across it on my Kindle when I was between books. I had a quick glance, and a quick read of the first page to see if I felt like it.

Well, it was so easy to read that I immediately knew I would just keep going. However, I was wrong, this was not a quick read. In fact it was just the opposite at 656 pages. I’m not a fan of big books as a rule but just kept going. There were times when I skipped over some paragraphs and other times where I just devoured every word.

I went through several emotions reading this. How do write about a romance where two people just love each other without it becoming boring? Well, ask L.T. Marshall. Usually it is the chase, the conflict, and the getting together before the end of the book. Just Rose was so much more. I wasn’t sure how I felt about Rose not being a fiesty, strong female. I’m used to heroines  being stong. In real life though, it isn’t always like that. Rose, when she can’t deal with a situation, especially when it involved the gorgeous Rob, just had a melt down of tears. There were lots of tear tantrums, and after a while I got used to that side of her character.

She had a lovely sort of life after inheriting a pretty little cottage from her Aunt. She decorated it and made it cosy. As a talented illutrator,  she worked from home and loved pink, had beautiful dresses and drove a pink car. The village she lived in was quaint with a super bakery that made the most delicious bread and cakes. (And she didn’t appear to put on weight!) I found myself begining to envy Rose’s life. I wanted to be Rose, and I could be her be in the pages of this story!

Then she meet the handsome Rob, who has fire in his eyes when his emotions smoulded. He was the laird of the manor, everyone knew him and his family. Abby, his sister, becomes her best friend. They have girly nights and days together. There are parties in which Rose becomes hopelessly drunk, and you are with her every step of the way! There is more than one party, and both girls enjoy a drink as they dance and flirt and have a really good time. Oh the hangovers! I just loved it!

Rob Munro, what a man – not perfect – he has a temper, but it only made him more adorable, and the sex! That was fun, and I might add none of it was graphic, most, if not all was left to the imagination and the details, (do we really need to know?) are glossed over. Instead, words of love are used and I liked that, it was clever, considering they made use of every surface in the house!!

A number of times I thought the story was drawing to a close and each time my kindle said another two or three hours of reading left. What could the author possibly write about now? Rose and Rob were together and madly in love, Abby was also in a relationship. There were lots of minor characters, all of which were interesting, not to  mention the mad girlfriend. She is he crux of the story.

Sigh, such a great story, such great characters. I was the lady of the manor and money was no object. She could have her own credit card in which she was told to max them out. She had a manor to decorate. She could spend whatever she wanted, sigh. I can’t imagine my husband saying that.

I’m so glad I didn’t know it was a big book because I probaby wouldn’t have read it – and I’d have missed out, big time.

Don’t you miss out on this fabulous story. Scroll back up for the link and if you are in Kindle Unlimited, it is free to download.

Hope for Dad

This week I am  featuring my book Play the Game. In this little teaser, Stella is talking about her dad. After a family tragedy, Stella copes the best she can, but her father found it much more difficult.

He was supposed to take care of her, instead she finds herself looking after him. All she wants is her dad back to the way he was, and as the years pass by, that hope begins to fade.

Playing The Game

This week I am going to be posting about Play the Game. It’s an Electric Eclectic novelette that can be read in one sitting.

It’s idea for that journey, or even a beach read.

I was told this is an overused image, lots of people have used it in various ways. But, I like it, it works brilliant for the opening to my story. I added the bag at her feet because Stella, the main character had been delivering locally, and for me, it just worked.

However, nothing is every that perfect and there is one major flaw with the picture! In the story, Stella comes into a hotel seeking warmth from the cold winter’s evening! But ah well, you can’t have everything, can you?

67268005_2378624482410884_1196563298661695488_n

Stella was looking for somewhere to keep warm while she waits for a bus and sneaks into a hotel to sit it out.

Kelly is at a function in the hotel and takes a breather away from all the pats on the backs and speeches. He assumes she waiting for the lift and she worries he is part of the staff and will chuck her out.

Striking up a conversation, what Stella reveals heightens his interest in this petite softly spoken girl. It was the last thing he had expected from her.

Stella had given up dating, her life was too complicated. Explaining about her dad was not something anyone would understand.

When Kelly asks her to dinner, she panics. Should she break her rule and go? She couldn’t remember the last time a good looking boy had even shown an interest in her.

Maybe she would, just this once….

1

#pictpublishing

Genre: Romance/Contemporary/Women’s Fiction

Description

EMMA ANDERSON has everything in her life worked out.

She has a perfect job in a Manhattan empire, allowing her to live a quiet, organised and safe existence. A necessity after a childhood filled with abuse, bad memories, and a mother who was less than useless.

She’s worked hard to get where she is – and she has just landed an amazing promotion.

But it comes with a problem – and one that could derail everything she thought she needed in her life.

Emma’s new role is as the right-hand man for billionaire playboy JAKE CARRERO. He’s exactly the type of person who could drive her crazy – and not in a good way.

Chalk and cheese – he is everything she’s not. Compulsive, dominant and confident, with a seriously laid-back attitude to casual sex and dating.

Jake is the only one with the ability to steamroll over Emma’s manicured, ice maiden exterior. But Emma has no desire to let anyone close enough to hurt her again.

Jake needs to show Emma that even someone like him can change when that one girl that matters walks into your life.

The ninth book in the very popular Carrero Series is released today, and I’m starting by featuring book one because we need a place to start and this is where the story begins.

Ninety-two reviews on Amazon tell you how good this book is, and I’m sorry to say I haven’t read it yet but upon reading the description, I intend to. In fact, I’m pretty sure it is already on my Kindle.

For a nineth book to come out, the series has many fans. I’ve seen these books around Facebook, and I am also a Pict Publishing author, so know of Leanne Marshall whose is a founder of Pict.

This morning, I came across this really lovely post by avid Carrero Series reader and fan, Sue Barker.

Today is a special day for the boss Leanne Marshall, as her ninth Carrero Series book is released 🍾🎉🎊

About a year ago I was recommended her book The Carrero Effect ~ The Promotion. My friend had joked that I would be addicted and she wasn’t kidding!

Filled with strong characters, especially Emma, and so many twists and surprises (I’m sure my first message to Leanne was just WTF!) I greedily consumed the whole series avidly.

As well as reading some fabulous books, I became part of the Carrero Mafia, and have enjoyed making many friends. It has been a huge pleasure to support Leanne along the way and to find out how much work, stress and effort goes into producing a book.

Honestly I am in complete awe of all you authors!

So congratulations lovely 😊
Enjoy your special day🥰📖
And when is book ten going to be ready? 😉

Who is Kiltie Jackson?

Screen Shot 2019-06-04 at 11.43.31Kiltie grew up in Glasgow and went to London and the Midlands before finally settling in Staffordshire. She lives with her husband and six cats.
Interestingly, she didn’t set out to write a series, something I know about because neither did I, and like she says, it just happened.
A Rock ‘n’ Roll Lovestyle was released on the 26th September 2017 and her second novel, An Artisan Lovestyle, was released in June 2018.  An Incidental Lovestylle was releasedon 28th May 2019 and makes a great addition to this colourful, cool looking series.

She is also writing her first standalone thriller but there is no release date set yet.

Follow Kiltie on Facebook , Twitter and even Instagram.

I picked out this review for An Incidental lovestyle because it says each story can be read alone but of course itsbetter together!
All books are available in Kindle and in Paperback.

Review from an Amazon Customer:

"Ohhhh I love the Lovestyle series, the first two were fab and this is
more of the same, new characters mix with some we recognise (this
book can easily be read as a stand alone or of course part of the
series) and all in an modern romance laced with the authors very
unique humour plus ‘insight on humans’ and all tied up in a big
colourful bow!
Bring on Book 4!
