Excerpt

Lucinda Mallows visits a group of gypsies camping out at the edge of town. The townsfolk are suspicious of the new arrivals but Lucinda is determined to show a friendly face by bringing them some baked goods. While she is there she is warned of an approaching unkown danger coming for her…..

There was a soul wrenching scream.

The figure that reached the door was a mass of flame and smoke. Lucinda saw the face, wide eyed with terror and pain as the balaclava melted and stuck to his face. Kisses of hungry flames engulfed his eyeballs until theyy sizzled and popped. The blind figure staggered away from the doorway, flailing his arms like a fiery windmill in a futile attempt to snuff out the flames.

An indescribable incandesence, like a supernova, consumed the figure. The unearthly brighness obiterated all his features.

A New Concept For Writers

Electric Eclectic Books

We are a brand of books, rather than a publisher. What makes us different is that the author claims all royalities, and has full control of their own book. It was originally just novellas, created for readers to find new authors without having to purchase a full book. While this is still true, there are other things that Electric Electic Books now do.

  • Back Stories – are excellent ways to explore and individual (or several) characters life (or lives) in more depth, even from childhood or birth, delving into their lives to find what experiences moulded their temperament and persoanlity. What traumas or conquests brough them to this point in their lives?
  • Parallels give authors the prospect of exploring untold events from their books; these parallels are like a sidebar, allowing incidents not fully incvestigated in other volumes, now to be discovered by their readers.
  • A Prequel is, of course, telling the tale of what happened before the series started, the worlds, the events, the people, their endevours and conflicts, the formation and destruction of agreements, syndicates, cartels and collborations… there is no end of possibilty.
  • Longer books are now accepted, too.

Combined with our Novelletes, Electric Eclectic is proving to be the thinking authors marketing.

Who does not want to use a method of marketing which pays the authors to promote their own books?

Could your writing fill that criteria? We are looking for authors to join us and enjoy the many benefits we offer.

Karen’s Book Buzz Review

I’ve always said I am not a fan of horror but find myself reading the odd one or two. The last ones I read were also Electric Eclectic books. Because most of them are shorter reads, it tempts me to give them a try.  I have’t been disappointed yet.

A Flash of Horror is another excellent book. Simply because the style of writing was easy to read and the flashes of horror really laid out the scary side.  There are twelve stories in all. Some I’d read in a previous collection and still enjoyed second time around.

Each story was short, just a few pages long and often with a twist in the tail, something you don’t expect, then wham! There is it, the explanation – usually nothing like I imagined. Cleverly written, the stories don’t say much, they leave the inbetween bits out for your imagination to do the work, and it truely does. Don’t read it at night!

Having read a few stories of late that were short and often difficult to get into as I tried to work out what they were saying, where it was going, and if it was worth carrying on. It was so refreshing to read straight forward, straight to the point writing that was clear and easy to understand.

You will finish this book in no time, so it’s recommended for a journey, or the hour to relax into for some me time.

A Flash of Horror

This book is part of the Electric Eclectic brand of books and they are all shorter reads. Particularly good if you love reading but don’t have a lot of time.  It’s also a good way to find new authors.

Have you Ever Seen a Ghost?

Excerpt from The Haunting by Karen J Mossman

Teaser
“It’s a lovely house, Cassie – it’s all right to call you Cassie?” I nodded. “Daniel chose it. When I first went to see it, I liked it, but something felt off. I thought it was just me and ignored it. Now we’ve bought it… I’ve seen shadows. Neither of the boys believe me. I hear things too. I feel more and more uneasy, and the last time I was there, something crashed beside me and I swear I saw a ghoul on the stairs. It was horrible.” She visibly trembled at the thought.
“What do you want me to do?”
She gazed helplessly at me and shrugged. “I don’t know. Damien found you after I, well, after I got upset and told Daniel I wouldn’t move in.”
I had to admit this was intriguing to me now. “When Man- erm- Damien – took me, and I saw the house, I knew something had happened there, and it was bad. Have you tried looking up the history?”
“No, I don’t really want to. I mean, what would it solve?”
“I’m no exorcist. I can’t banish ghosts. I can try to understand them, I can advise you, but can’t promise you anything.” My curiosity had won out. I was effectively telling her I would help.
“We’d be happy to pay for your time.”
“I don’t do this for money. Payment isn’t necessary.”
Why do people always think it’s a trade? I don’t buy and sell. It’s a gift, a curse sometimes. It’s just something I can do. I never asked for it. I never trained for it.
Rachel rose to her feet. “Thank you, Cassie. I really appreciate anything you can do. If it means us selling the house again, then so be it.” She opened her handbag and handed me a card. “You can contact me here. When would be good for you to come?”
We made arrangements. Perhaps it would be okay with Damien after all. Although, I still didn’t want to go to a racing circuit.

Want to read more and find out what happens when Cassie visits the house and comes face to face with a ghost?
